Once again the NAMM convention landed in Anaheim, California this past January for its annual barrage of all things music. For those not in the know, NAMM stands for the National Association of Music Merchants who puts on this massive convention which is basically Mecca for musicians, DJs, producers, techies and just about anyone in the music industry. Every year the Anaheim Convention Center is quite literally transformed into the world’s largest Guitar Center on steroids. With everything from guitars to drums, mics to mixing boards, speakers to lighting, gear, gizmos, doo dads and doo hickies, it’s all here under one roof. For the 16th year in a row, the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender descended upon Las Vegas, Nevada for a week (ok, technically four days but with so much going on all week, we’ll call it a week ok?) of high octane music, classic cars, vintage fashions and one hell of a good time!
Held at The Orleans Hotel and Casino just off the main strip, Viva Las Vegas brings together all the best trappings that the rockabilly scene has to offer. The brain child of founder Tom Ingram, the event attracts attendees from across the country and quite literally around the world. With an action packed four days of scheduled bands, shows and round the clock record hops (no joke, literally happening til the wee hours of the morning) there is something to do every second of every day.
